The UACC runs a competitive programme where students are put through their paces tackling real-world business scenarios; testing their strategic thinking, problem-solving, and ability to navigate complex challenges and solutions.
We are proud of the work by our Future Leaders Committee members, Henry Wang (KPMG) and Alex McLennan (Teneo) delivered along together with Board Member Larissa Logan (Fixity), who brought to life a very real example of a construction business facing financial strain. The case highlighted the challenges of declining margins, strained cashflow, increasing creditor pressure, and uncertainty around ongoing bank support.
Their case was a fantastic example of the reality of what our member see day in day out.
It was awesome to see such strong engagement from students. Understanding how businesses navigate financial distress is a critical insight for future business leaders to be aware of, and key to a resilient New Zealand economy. We hope this experience has sparked interest in a career in restructuring and insolvency.
