RITANZ has 2 categories of members – General and Licensed Insolvency Practitioners. Our General Members are not to be confused with Licensed Insolvency Practitioners.
It is important to note the distinction between these when looking for assistance in insolvencies as they are distinct and separate categories. With the exception of solvent liquidations, only Licensed Insolvency Practitioners are permitted to take insolvency engagements. Those handling solvent liquidations must be a Chartered Accountant or a lawyer.
Please do your due diligence and check the credentials of anyone that you are looking to engage and when checking it is imperative that you conduct a search of the Companies Office register to determine whether an individual holds the relevant licence.
Anyone taking appointments without holding the correct licence is subject to severe penalties under s8 of the Act.
