Property Sector Update & Marketing Distressed Assets

In this session, we will provide comprehensive insights into the current state of the property market across various sectors including the residential, rural, commercial, analyse the relationship between activity, value, and volume and highlight specific stress points in the market. We will also look to provide some insight into marketing distressed sales to maximise value from an agency perspective.

Presenters:

Duncan Ross – Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Bayley Corporation, Duncan oversees the execution of Bayleys’ wider company operational and strategic activities, monitors productivity and results, and helps facilitate the “Altogether Better” philosophy that underpins Bayleys’ business throughout New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

Duncan brings almost 20 years’ experience in banking, finance, professional services, business advisory, turnaround management and corporate restructuring to the Bayleys table. This industry background includes a decade spent with KordaMentha in the wider agricultural and financial sectors.

As a chartered accountant and holding a Bachelor of Management Studies from Waikato University, Duncan’s professional affiliations include being a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand (ICAANZ) and of Restructuring Insolvency Turnaround New Zealand (RITANZ).

A strategic thinker with astute problem-solving skills and an ability to see issues in a wider economic and business context, Duncan takes a hands-on approach to leadership in a team-driven environment where robust outcomes are expected.

Chris Farhi – Head of Insights, Data and Consulting

Chris leads the Bayleys Insights, Data and Consulting team.

He is responsible for delivering high quality and useful market insights externally to clients and internally to agents, positioning them at the front of emerging trends. Bayleys has a unique position in the real estate industry in that it has significant market share across all three main sectors: residential, commercial and rural. This enables substantial volumes of transactional data and information to be gather from across the whole market on a daily basis.

Chris is also responsible for the growth of Bayleys’ consulting services. He is an award winning consultant within the New Zealand property sector and has worked with a wide range of corporate, government, education and not-for-profit organisations. He specialises in real estate decision making, complex lease transactions and financial analysis across all asset classes.

Ryan Johnson – National Director Commercial & Industrial

With over 25 years in real estate and funds management across New Zealand, Asia Pacific and the UK, Ryan heads Bayleys’ Commercial Real Estate business and Capital Market teams.  This brings together New Zealand’s largest commercial agency with 240 brokers transacting over 2,400 deals worth in excess of $3.4 billion.

Through his local and offshore experience, Ryan has cemented relationships with investors, fund managers, government, local authorities, large corporate institutions, financial advisors, commercial trading banks and high net wealth individuals.  These complement his more recent task of managing the Bayleys’ Knight Frank agency partnership.

Ryan has brokered in excess of $2 billion of transactions, allowing him to confidently manage Bayleys’ extensive Commercial & Industrial division covering 15 offices nationwide.

A member of the Bayleys Executive team, Ryan’s combination of experience, market knowledge and both international and local reach is matchless.  With an open and amiable approach, he is in a unique position to assist clients with getting the best outcome across a full service of commercial capability.

Nick Hawken – National Director Rural

A seasoned professional with an established reputation for diligent management of complex agricultural and farming business relationships, Nick comes armed with nearly two decades of practical experience in the rural and finance sectors.

Superbly knowledgeable and consistently abreast of industry developments, Nick’s previous role as director of the post-farmgate business at BNZ has provided a unique insight into what it takes to see rural businesses thrive.

Intelligent, earnest, and true to his word, Nick consistently demonstrates a wide range of technical, commercial, and strategic skills that supports the rural community through initiatives, expertise and development.
